Some of the interesting species of birds to be seen at Elan Valley include the merlin, lesser spotted woodpecker, goshawk, peregrine falcon, red kite, siskin, dunlin, golden plover and crossbill.

Home to a diverse range of feathered friends, the forest has up to 40 species serenading visitors with their songs including the lesser spotted woodpecker, a willow tit and turtle doves.
