Arthropods (/ ˈɑːrθrəpɒd / ARTH-rə-pod) [22] are invertebrates in the phylum Arthropoda. They possess an exoskeleton with a cuticle made of chitin, often mineralised with calcium carbonate, a body with differentiated (metameric) segments, and paired jointed appendages.
