Mar 5, 2014 · Mel never replied. I've met a number of surgeons over the past year since I discovered I had a dermoid. A number of them have said they are up to 95% sure they wouldn't take my ovary. However, my cyst is inside my ovary and my follicles are draped over my cyst so likely to be loss of follicles. On balance I've decided against surgery.

Jul 29, 2016 · I haven't had my surgery yet - due in four weeks - but my dermoid cysts we only discovered recently and one is large enough to need full open surgery, a laparotomy. The recovery from this takes much longer than laparoscopy and I will probably lose the ovary.
