2023年3月3日 · On the fence about whether or not to dovetail blanks or just clamp in 45° serrated jaws with no prep in 5th-Axis V75100X . Only holding on to 2.5mm (.098") in either case. Material is 1018CF, 126Bhn. Large hole is Ø.625" x 2.9" deep and the small hole is Ø.300" x 4.9" deep.

2004年8月19日 · The dovetail is 60 degrees, and only about 1/8" high. (I think the width is somewhere around 3/8") Those vises with the dovetail jaws are mounted on a Cincinnati #3 Horz. mill with a huge form cutter. Up to 3/4" DOC is taken off the 1"X2" bars with only that tiny "dovetail" holding them in the vise. Works like a champ.

2008年2月5日 · I've got a couple 5th axis vises for the 5th and 4th axis stuff, and I like them. But sometimes I just need to hold stock in a Chick Bilock vise. Current part is a bronze casting 2" thick and 5" square roughly, and I dovetail the thing so i can hold onto about .070 without worrying about the part pulling out of the vise. It works very very well.

2013年2月1日 · Dovetail jaws are normally used in first operations, so location doesn't really matter. Any minor variation in location shouldn't affect the roughing cycles. Furthermore, dovetail jaws require much less clamping pressure to secure the workpiece than flat jaws. You shouldn't experience any jaw lift at such low pressures.
