2010年11月1日 · my suggestions I have welded a lot of cast iron . first pre heat i dont think it has to be that hot but it wont hert . peen when it is hot right after welding . if it is thin peen with a sharp pointed chipping hammer weld a shot dis. 1/2". jump around to diffrent areas. I just use the reg mig wire . it works great .

2003年5月11日 · Re: welding cast iron, for what it's worth The reason Mig (GMAW) works fairly well, some of the time, is because you have a lower heat input, therefore there is less thermal shock in the heat affected zone than with conventional arc welding. OTOH running a cooler weld (essentially a localized re-casting) means less penetration, and a weaker joint.

2009年2月22日 · After having read more postings that I can count about welding cast iron, and the entire Lincoln welding book "Metals and How to Weld Them", the only consensus I can find is that proper cleaning, gently pre-heating, using nickel wire/rod for the weld, and peening as it cools, seems to work, especially with lower lever of heat generated by a mig.
