2008年9月10日 · It's that time of year where I just cut down my okra stalks to make way for the palatable pleasures from a fall garden. The okra seemed extra tall this year with most stalks being over 12 feet tall. The stalks seem to never actually break down due to rot. I have seen some city people who even leave it standing until spring planting.

2009年6月9日 · I planted 50 Okra seeds this year but only have 18 plants left. Rabbits!!! The rabbits and crows tore my garden up. I had to replant a lot of zuchinni, squash, peas, and the seeds I got from Jesse, well the crows had a hay day with all the beans. I only have 1 Chinese Noodle Bean plant that survived!!! But things could be worse I guess!!!

2023年5月21日 · Doesnt always happen. Desperate wildlife also goes for anything still green and edible. Last summer something even went after the okra, the whole plant and it was some small animal, not deer. Desperation indeed. About soon chew on a tree as an okra stalk.

2024年11月11日 · The beans and cornbread would be fine by me, but I really like having them with fried taters and either okra, squash, or mustard greens on the side. Cornbread and buttermilk or just corn bread and milk are favorites of mine for breakfast. And cornbread with ribbon cane syrup on it is the best dessert around short of pecan pie.

2005年6月20日 · I am so glad that you have purple corn. I planted my corn on April 2 and my silks turned purple. I have asked everyone I knew who gardened and no one had an answer. Last year I had purple okra that no one had EVER heard of before but me, so no one believed me when I told them there is such a thing as purple okra.
