Forgiveness is greatly misunderstood because in order to be forgiven and receive forgiveness from God, you have to repent. Without repentance, there is no forgiveness of sins. And there's no meaningful change without repentance—you won't do better the next time. On the other hand, we are also asked to extend forgiveness, to give forgiveness to other people without the stipulation of them repenting. We don't just forgive those who repent. We forgive any one of anything, and you will never get God
